The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted, proposed by Vincent Harvey and seconded by Stephen Kelly.

Ábhair a bhaineann le/Matters Arising:

  • Chairman pleased that two vacant posts in North Antrim Committee are now filled.
  • Perimeter fencing will be addressed
  • Club Members trained in use of Defibrillator will be issued with keys for the Defibrillator box. Spare keys will be stored in clubroom kitchen. Laminated notices, of list of trained members will be posted in clubrooms.
  • The success of the Juvenile Presentations at the Laragh Lodge was recognized.
  • It was noted that a special meeting was held to discuss the fees of the Girls Gaelic Football team and financial support provided.
  • Scór Sinsir held in Feb was well received

Tuarascáil Chontae/County Report:

  • Tom Daly Ulster Chairman opened the meeting with a detailed presentation on the Casement Park project outlining how protracted the negotiations had been over a three year period.
  • Acceptance of £61.4 million government money and £15 million from GAA Central Council have been confirmed with stringent conditions being imposed relating to the government money.
  • Football and Hurling Championship Draws were made and will be posted on the County website.
  • A lengthy and heated debate ensued regarding All County Minor League

Tuarascail Aontroim Thuaidh/North Antrim Report:

  • Mary Kane agreed to accept the North Antrim Committee secretary’s post.
  • North Antrim forced to run with All County Minor leagues.
  • Competitors playing in indoor competitions are asked to be fully kitted out.
  • North Antrim fees to be paid as soon as possible.

Coiste na nÓg/Juvenile Committee:

  • Chairman stressed the importance of representatives attending General Meetings.

Clárú/Costas Registration/Costs:

  • A number of membership forms have yet to be received.
  • The secretary agreed to send an email to all mentors asking them to help ensure that their players are registered.
  • The Treasurer asked that the mentors are reminded that cover for physiotherapy, discounts on hurls is only available to those who have registered and that registration is extremely important for insurance purposes.

Tóirse Oilimpeach/Olympic Torch:

  • Maggie McToal and Gerry Cosgrove will attend a meeting on Tuesday 27th March in The Mariners Bar and will update the club accordingly.

Comhfhreagras/Correspondence:

  • The Chairman read the following correspondence:
    • Letter from The Croke Park Hotel regarding the GAA support programme which had been endorsed by the GAA as an official ‘GAA giveback Partner’ scheme.
    • Email from Frankie Quinn advising that Juvenile Equipment funding may be provided by Sport NI.
    • Email from Croke Park asking that player’s helmets meet the requirements of rule 4.2(i).
    • Letter received from Feis na nGleann Committee confirming that Oisín can host the 2012 Feis.
    • Email from Cllr. Noreen McAllister thanking Oisín CLG for the use of their premises to run a course related to mental health issues etc.
    • Email from Children’s Officer Monica O’Neill regarding the GAA/YFCU Cross Community venture which may result in funding.

Gnó ar bith eile/AOB:

  • Those present were asked to support the ‘Friends of Glenariffe’ fundraising event – I’m a Slabber. Get me out of here.

Monica thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers during her recent illness.

Ábhair a chaineann le/Matters Arising:

Chairman encouraged younger members to consider taking officer positions in future years. He thanked members for their commitment and time spent attending The Irish News Club and Volunteer Conference in Armagh.

Tuarascáil Chontae/County Report:

Last Meeting attended was County Convention. Nothing specific related to Oisín CLG.

Tuarascail Aontroim Thuaidh/North Antrim Report:

Last meeting attended was North Antrim Convention. Concerns were raised regarding lack of officers in N.A. Committee. Chairman said that this may result on one body governing both North Antrim and County if officers not elected. The Chairman recognised the large number of individuals already engaged in supporting Oisín CLG.

Clárú/Costas/Registration/Costs:

£20 fees for individuals were passed. Family/Juvenile fees/Integration and One Club model and collections of fees will be discussed at next General Meeting to be held early February.

Eolas Struchtúir Thraenála/Coaching Structures Information:

Coaching group plan to work with The Primary School and Moyle Council Coaching Officer and will use the Council facilities for training. Indoor training has started. Coaches will meet monthly to discuss issues and scheduling. Senior Hurlers to assist with coaching juveniles. Pitch booking mechanism has been drawn up. The Chairman commended Padraig and the group for their dedication and hard work.

Regarding Club Communication Kenny McCormack, Assistant Secretary, advised that new club stationery has been printed, match reports planned, monthly General Meeting Clár/Agenda will be posted on village notice board, website being updated, two newsletters being issued – hardcopy and online and that ‘Facebook’ was requested by the community and members. The meeting agreed to adopt ‘Facebook’. and ‘teamer.net’ will also be introduced to the club to assist with fixtures etc. Kenny advised that a fitness/dieting talk for U14 to Senior has been organised. The Chairman said that a huge advance has been made in a relatively short time and he highly commended Kenny for his hard work and both he and the Secretary thanked Kenny for his support.

  • Stewarding in Casement Park – three members offered to assist.
  • Olympic Torch Relay – Oisíns to partake.

Oifigeach Caidrimh Phoiblí/PRO:

Club PRO will post Newsletters on website and submit match reports when received and will assist with Facebook.

Club Maith:

Progressing well. Scór Sinsir to take place mid February. Club Maith team plan to have portfolios submitted to Ulster Council by end of February ‘12.

Gnó ar bith eile/Any Other Business:

Monica O’Neill elected as Child Protection Officer. Club Lottery increased by £100 per week w.e.f. Sunday 15th January 2012. Defibrillator training to be arranged. Randal McDonnell will design club gear with percentage of sales to club. Child Protection courses to be arranged in the near future. Clodagh McMullan Glassmullan Road won the Irish Language competition in the Christmas Newsletter.

Ábhair a bhaineann le/Matters Arising:

Chairman Niall Wheeler welcomed back Monica O’Neill and Vincent Harvey back to the club meetings from their recent absence due to illness. Niall Wheeler and Hugh McIlwaine acted as stewards (representing Oisín CLG) at a recent County football match in Casement Park and have agreed with County Head Steward to assist at future games, preferably if held locally.

The Chairman thanked the Club Maith team for their continued dedication to the application and is confident that the club will be accredited. Monica O’Neill Children’s Officer stressed the importance of designated members attending the Child Protection Course scheduled for Monday 20th February 2012 in St. Patrick’s School. Monica advised of a Cross Community venture between the GAA and Young Farmers earmarked for mid March 2012 in Corrymeela.

Tuarascáil Chontae/County Report:

16th Jan 2012 – The Financial Report was discussed however the two main issues were the suspension of four Rasharkin club members and the proposal to have all matches throughout the County played on designated nights was debated at great length. An alternative proposal by Bord na Óg along similar lines was carried on a vote. Second County Meeting was held on 13th February 2012.

Amateur status and payments to Managers discussion paper was debated. Option 2most favoured i.e. to fully implement the existing policy rules and guidelines on our amateur status with a body set up to police it with the whole ethos of amateurism being upheld. The anticipated completion of works to Casement is the end of 2015. Replacement sought for County Treasurer who resigned. Martin Butler’s transfer was approved and 16 new referees are undergoing training.

Tuarascail Aontroim Thuaidh/North Antrim Report:

Stephen Kelly and Hugh O’Connor attended the NA meeting on 2nd February 2012. The NA Chairman encouraged teams to enter the Feilé skills competitions. Niall Kearney is starting a Coaching and Development committee again and each club has been asked to send a representative.

There will not be a fixtures booklet this year but fixtures can be accessed through the website. There are still a number of officer’s vacancies in the NA committee – PRO, Secretary and Fixtures Secretary. John Robbin explained that if the NA Committee accepted club teams alphabetically, this may create a fairer standard competing.

Oifigeach Caidrimh Phoiblí/PRO:

Michelle asked the secretary to stress the importance of articles for the March Newsletter being made available to her. The secretary explained that Michelle was working very hard behind the scenes with the Club Maith application. The Chairman expressed his thanks and said that Michelle was a great asset to the club.

Coiste na nÓg/Juvenile Committee:

Paddy McIlhatton explained the plan for the Juvenile Presentation taking place on Friday 24th February 2012 in The Laragh Lodge. Loughgiel hurlers Johnny Campbell and Barney McAuley are attending.

Clárú/Costas Registration/Costs:

A meeting was arranged for Wednesday 22nd February 2012 in the clubrooms with Pauline McIntosh Girls Gaelic Football Mentor and the Executive Committee to agree membership/registration fees etc

Tóirse Oilimpeach/Olympic Torch:

The secretary explained that she attended a Moyle District Council meeting in The Mariner’s Bar on 2nd February regarding the Olympic Torch travelling through Waterfoot on Sunday 3rd June 2012. It was explained at the meeting that this was a worldwide event with a chance to show case Glenariffe and requested Oisín CLG participation and that of other groups within the parish. Another meeting is to be held in The Mariners Bar on Tuesday 28th February 2012. The Secretary, Brendan Murray and Vincent Harvey agreed to attend and represent the club.

Comhfhreagras/Correspondence:

The Chairman read the following correspondence: Email from The County Antrim Post newspaper advertising their debut paper to be launched on 6th March 2012 asking for materials from GAA clubs for publication. The County Antrim Post is a weekly tabloid. The Secretary agreed to pass the email to the club’s PRO. The Chairman also read the email from Philip Christie regarding various annual grants scales that are available to clubs. All are retrospective and therefore should be targeted for next year before 24th March 2013.

Gnó ar bith eile/AOB:

The Chairman asked that members support the Scór Sinsir teams on Sunday 26th February in the County Finals in Rasharkin. Discussions took place as where to site the key for the Defibrillator for quicker access.
